Contemporary ceramics using local clays, inspired by the flora and terrain of Dartmoor...
Granite Series - individual vessels with granite inclusions from the edge of Dartmoor
Dartmoor Series - handmade bespoke vessels in a unique 'wild' clay, foraged near my studio on the edge of the moor. Texture and form are heavily influenced by pots from our ancient past, in particular beaker form pottery.
Stone Series - vessels created from a combination of mixed clays, evocative of the moorland landscape and terrain.
Mocha diffusion Series - using a traditional decorating technique to capture the delicacy and intricacy of local ferns and lichen
Texture Series - tactile pots thrown on my kick wheel, using beautiful grogged stoneware clay from a small clay pit in the south-west

A high fired granite series vase perfect for small flowers with a deep green/blue glaze and granite inclusions from the edge of the moor. Height 10cm width 9.5cm. Hand wash only.
In my remote moorland studio, I use predominently local clays to make wheel thrown, hand decorated ceramics. If you visit my Instagram account, I hope you can see how the Dartmoor terrain and flora inspires the decoration and form of my work. I feel privileged to live in this beautiful area, and to be able to spend my time making carefully hand crafted ceramics. I have been working for over a decade, and trained formally before undertaking an apprenticeship for a year with a local potter. I make small batch ceramics, and a smaller number of unique bespoke pieces. Most of my work is high fired in an electric kiln but on occasion I use the alternative firing technique of raku.
